Petty Officer 2nd class Dixianne Alleyne, hospital corpsman, a Jacksonville, Fla., native, serving as a pharmacy technician at the Camp LSA, Kuwait, troop medical center, hangs a snowflake among many decorations in the TMC lobby to spread holiday cheer and aid patients coming into the facility. Some studies show that an environment of care may reduce the burden of disease and shorten healing time across multiple medical and mental conditions. "We see a lot of sick people in here and we want them to feel a little cheer," Alleyne said. "I think it relieves stress, which can even come from being sick or in pain. We've gotten a lot of positive feedback from troops coming in and the reason we are here, after all, is to care for the health of the Soldiers." The primary mission at Camp LSA is to airlift troops in and out of the Middle East, where many service members are finding ways to take in the holiday season.
