Landing craft utility 1627 from to Assault Craft Unit 1 transports Marines and their equipment to well deck of the amphibious dock landing ship USS Harpers Ferry. Harpers Ferry, the amphibious dock landing ship USS Tortuga and the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit are participating in Amphibious Landing Exercise 2009. PHIBLEX is designed to improve interoperability, increase readiness and develop professional relationships between the U.S. military and the Armed Forces of the Philippines.
