Line handlers heave a line as the mine counter-measures ship USS Defender moors pierside in the port of Miyanoura on the Japanese island of Yakushima. Defender is the first U.S. Navy ship to make a port call to this small Island. Miyanoura is a United Nations World Heritage Site located 225 miles south of the Japanese mainland.
