Land’s 1000/500 Pound Club. The 1000/500 Pound Club holds quarterly competitions for participants to perform the squat, bench, and dead lift attempting to lift a cumulative total of 1,000 pounds for men and 500 pounds for women. Competitions like this promote health and fitness of Sailors. Emory S. Land is a forward deployed expeditionary submarine tender on an extended deployment conducting coordinated tended moorings and afloat maintenance in the U.S. 5th and 7th Fleet areas of responsibility.
