Heisserer, from Modesto, Calif., center, cuts a cake after being named 2015 Shore Sailor of the Year (SOY) along with the other nominees during a ceremony at the Pentagon. The Navy Shore SOY program was established in 1972 to recognize Sailors who represent the best of the Navy by demonstrating both professional and personal dedication above and beyond their peers.
