    150309-N-YM718-038 NORTH PACIFIC OCEAN (March 9, 2015) – Hull Technician 3rd Class (SW) Jason Fitzpatrick, a native of Orangevale, Calif., assigned to the Repair department aboard the submarine tender USS Emory S. Land (AS 39), welds steel to the deck to secure a container as the ship enters the U.S. 7th Fleet area of responsibility. Emory S. Land is a forward-deployed expeditionary submarine tender on an extended deployment conducting coordinated tended moorings and afloat maintenance in the U.S. 5th and 7th Fleet areas of responsibility. By returning to its forward-deployed status, the Emory S. Land ensures that surface ships and submarines have vital supply and maintenance support to keep them on station operating forward preserving peace, protecting commerce, and deterring aggression.
