Royal Air Force Air Commodore Mark Hopkins, director of the Combined Air and Space Operations Center, right, receives a pre-launch briefing as he sits in the rear seat of an F/A-18F Super Hornet assigned to the Fighting Redcocks of Strike Fighter Squadron 22 before a mission over Afghanistan. Hopkins is visiting the aircraft carrier USS Ronald Reagan to observe Sailors aboard the ship conduct missions over Afghanistan. The Combined Air and Space Operations Center is the command and control center responsible for directing all fixed-wing flight operations for Operation Enduring Freedom. Ronald Reagan is deployed to the U.S. 5th Fleet area of responsibility.
