Commemorating the opening of the Vietnam Traveling Memorial Wall at the National World War I Museum at Kansas City, Mo., Sgt. 1st Class Frank McCaskill, a trumpeter with the 1st Infantry Division Band, plays “Taps” during a ceremony May 22, 2015. Soldiers with the 1st Infantry Division fought in both WWI and Vietnam, suffering nearly 23,000 and 21,000 casualties, respectively and supported the museum’s Memorial Day weekend activities with color guards, posting and retiring the colors and poetry written by soldiers who fought from WWI to present.
