    III Marine Expeditionary Force

Lance Cpl. Carlos Ortiz crosses a gorge on a single-rope bridge during the endurance course April 19 at the Jungle Warfare Training Center, Okinawa, Japan. Marines learned how to tie different knots to secure themselves to the bridges, as well as how to hasty rappel down steep hillsides during the jungle warfare training. The endurance course was the culminating exercise, building upon what the Marines learned the week prior. Ortiz is a Chicago, Ill. native, and rifleman with Company L, 3rd Battalion, 3rd Marine Regiment. The Hawaii-based battalion is attached to 4th Marine Regiment, 3rd Marine Division, III Marine Expeditionary Force as part of the unit deployment program. (U.S. Marine Corps Photo by Sgt.
