U.S. Marine Corps Capt. Jeffrey Arroyo, executive officer of Marine Corps Recruiting Station Phoenix, congratulates Hayden Holman, an 18-year-old senior at Shadow Mountain High School in Phoenix, for receiving the highly selective Marine Corps Naval Reserve Officers Training Corps [NROTC] Scholarship during an awards assembly at Shadow Mountain H.S. May 6, 2015. Holman, a tri-sport athlete and a 3.7 GPA student, wants to become a Marine infantry officer after attending Iowa State University where he will be studying construction engineering. “I know by serving in the Marine Corps I am going to be able to help others and make a difference,” said Holman. “It is an honor to receive this scholarship.” The Marine Corps NROTC scholarship program determines its recipients during two nationally competitive selection periods each year.
