Flag-holding runners pace themselves on Joint Base Myer-Henderson Hall’s McNair Road during the final miles of the Virginia Run for the Fallen May 3. The relay runners would stop every mile along the 240-mile route to erect a “hero marker” to remember a fallen service member from the Commonwealth of Virginia. Two hero markers, one outside of Hatfield Gate and another at Arlington National Cemetery’s Chapel Gate, were established within or near JBM-HH.
