Capt. Walter Hatfield, of Charleston, W. Va., bench presses 425 pounds, breaking the gymnasium's record of 415 pounds at Camp Stryker July 22. Hatfield, of the 150th Armored Reconnaissance Squadron, 30th Heavy Brigade Combat Team, lifts weights during his spare time. He won the 2005 European National Power-lifting Competition in Germany. Hatfield began his military career in the Marine Corps 15 years ago, and became a member of the West Virginia National Guard in 2000. He is currently the civil military operations officer with the squadron.
