150330-N-SM479-022 DUQM, Oman (March 30, 2015) The amphibious assault ship USS Iwo Jima (LHD 7) is moored pier side for a mid-voyage port visit in Duqm, Oman. Iwo Jima is the flagship for the Iwo Jima Amphibious Ready Group and, with the embarked 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit (24th MEU), provides a versatile sea-based, expeditionary force that can be tailored to a variety of missions in the U.S. 5th Fleet area of responsibility.
