Army Lt. Col. Tim Glen of the 71st Civil Support Team, Iowa National Guard, speaks with Guard members and state and local participants in Vigilant Guard Iowa, June 18, in Des Moines, Iowa. The National Guard Bureau sponsored exercise is designed to test local, state, federal and military responders to perform roles and responsibilities related to homeland defense in support of the governor and the Iowa Emergency Management Agency, in the event of a catastrophic emergency within the state. This portion of the exercise was in response to a simulated, domestic terrorist attack using a train derailment to release chemical agents.
