Commander, 2nd Fleet, Vice Adm. Mel Williams Jr. speaks with Capt. Tushar Tembe, commanding officer of the amphibious transport dock ship USS Nashville (LPD 13) as the ship returns to Naval Station Norfolk after a five-month deployment in support of Africa Partnership Station. APS is a multinational initiative developed by commander, U.S. Naval Forces Europe and commander, U.S. Naval Forces Africa to work with U.S. and international partners to enhance maritime safety and security in West and Central Africa. Nashville deployed in support of maritime security operations and theater security cooperation efforts in the U.S. 5th and 6th Fleet areas of responsibility.
