This painting by 19th century military artist James Walker, depicting the May 13-14, 1864 Battle of Resaca, in Georgia, was "lost" following the demolition of a New York National Guard armory in New York City in 1959. The painting, stored at West Point before being turned back over to the New York National Guard, was actually mislabeled as the "Battle of Gettysburg." The challenge now is where to display the 12-foot-long artwork held by the New York State Military Museum in Saratoga Springs, N.Y.
