Information Systems Technician 2nd Class Jonathan Spencer, a Search and Rescue swimmer from Paso Robles, Calif., assigned to amphibious transport dock ship USS San Diego (LPD 22), is lowered into the water from the side of the ship to recover “Oscar,” the man overboard training mannequin during a man overboard drill. San Diego is part of the Makin Island Amphibious Ready Group and, with the embarked 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit, is deployed in support of maritime and theater security operations in the U.S. 5th Fleet area of responsibility.
