Kim Smith, principal software engineer for In Depth Engineering, shows a new type of sonar equipment called a multi-layer geo to attendees at the Tactical Advancements for the Next Generation (TANG) Expo, during a weeklong workshop at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam. The workshop is intended to improve watch team efficiency, build smoother communication, create a stronger Integrated Undersea Surveillance System community and boost skills in order to improve the capabilities of submarines and their crews in the fleet.
