An Afghan national army soldier places his hand on chapter 11 of the Holy Quran, March 12, at Kabul Military Training Center, while taking an oath pledging his loyalty to God, country and duty. The oath ceremony, given to soldiers during week five of their Basic Warrior Training, lasts about 90 minutes for approximately 1,200 members of the Kandak or training battalion. New recruits at KMTC are taught by members of the Camp Alamo Mentor Group.
