David Williams, deputy director of Undersea Programs at Naval Air Warfare Center, gives an overview to attendees of a ribbon-cutting ceremony for a new 3-D weapons launch console team trainer, a virtual Virginia-class submarine torpedo room. The trainer is based on open-source computer gaming code. Multi-touch panel displays give students an immersive and interactive virtual reality environment that allows for a wider range of simulations at a reduced cost.
