Corporal Gerardo Rodriguez, an ammo chief with Special Purpose Marine Air Ground Task Force South, and a native of Plainview, Texas, serves appetizers during a reception in the hangar bay of the future amphibious assault ship USS America (LHA 6), Aug. 25, 2014. The reception was hosted by the Marines and Sailors of America and U.S. Ambassador to Chile Michael Hammer for Chilean government officials and local leaders. The formal evening concluded with speeches from Rear Adm. Frank L. Ponds, commander of Expeditionary Strike Group 3 and Ambassador Hammer. SPAMGTF-South is currently embarked aboard America in support of her maiden transit, "America Visits the Americas."
