Vice Adm. Tohru Izumi, commander-in-chief of the Japan Self-Defense Fleet is greeted by Vice Adm. John M. Bird, Commander, U.S. 7th Fleet, aboard the amphibious command ship USS Blue Ridge. Bird hosted Izumi as Blue Ridge departed Yokosuka for a scheduled deployment. Bird and Izumi later disembarked the ship aboard Black Beard 02, an SH-60F Sea Hawk assigned to Helicopter Anti-submarine Squadron Light 51.
