Rear Adm. Gary R. Jones, the commander of Naval Education and Training Command, announces that Explosive Ordnance Disposal technician Petty Officer 1st Class Vincent S. Demakas has been chosen as the NETC Sailor of the Year. Jones made the announcement using a VTC from the conference room of Naval Service Training Command. Demakas, 31, from Reno, Nev., is an instructor at the Center for Explosive Ordnance Disposal and Diving School in Panama City, Fla. Jones was at Naval Station Great Lakes as the reviewing officer for a graduation ceremony at Recruit Training Command, the Navy's only boot camp.
