Today's Soldier in Focus is Capt. Israel Brown, who serves as the commander of the 848th Engineer Company, 890th Engineer Battalion, 926th Engineer Brigade, Multi-National Division – Baghdad. His duties consists of training, leading, mentoring and helping his 102 Soldiers develop mentally, physically and spiritually in a combat environment while conducting route-clearance patrols. He said the deployment has been a good experience for him. "There is no greater privilege or honor than to command or lead men in combat; however, there is no greater challenge," said Brown, who was born and raised in Macon, Ga., but now resides in Atlanta, Ga. He has served with the Georgia National Guard since 2001. Brown has been married for 15 months and has a 3-month-old daughter. He enjoys working out and house shopping online during his free time. He has a bachelor's degree in construction management and said he plans to further his military career.
