Petty Officer 2nd Class Miriam Verbarg, the sail loft leading petty officer from Naval Reserve USS Frank Cable Detachment E, instructs Seaman Derek Lambert at a newly acquired industrial sewing machine. Verbarg taught Lambert proper sewing technique while constructing a foul weather hatch cover for the Naval Submarine Force. Detachment E is assigned to the Reserve Intermediate Maintenance Activity at Naval Operational Support Center Spokane, which is one of about three dozen NOSCs nationwide which construct items for specific ships through the RIMA program.
