Eldridge is a 2013 graduate of Chapel Hill High School in Douglasville, Ga., and is scheduled to graduate from Marine Corps recruit training on Dec. 20, 2013, with Platoon 1096, Delta Company, 1st Recruit Training Battalion. The Crucible is a 54-hour final event recruits must complete before they are awarded with the title of U.S. Marine. Parris Island has been the site of Marine Corps recruit training since Nov. 1, 1915. Today, approximately 20,000 recruits come to Parris Island annually for the chance to become United States Marines by enduring 13 weeks of rigorous, transformative training.
