In 2007, the Cosco Busan, a 900-foot container carrier, collided with a tower of the San Francisco Bay Bridge, spilling an estimated 58,000 gallons of oil into the bay. The Coast Guard, along with other federal, state and local agencies, quickly responded to the crisis.
