The cutter and crew, originally homeported in Rockland, Maine, arrived in the Great Lakes Dec. 12, 2011, spent more than 175 hours breaking Great Lakes ice to keep tracks and channels open for navigation, spent 11 hours in direct support of five vessels beset by ice, and overall contributed to the safe transit of more than 160,000 tons of cargo, valued at more than $5 million.
