Adak is the first U.S. military ship to conduct a port visit to Iraq following the official end of the war, and the last port U.S. military port visit for 2011. Adak is assigned to Patrol Forces Southwest Asia, under Commander, Task Force (CTF) 55, supporting maritime security operations and theater security cooperation in the U.S. 5th Fleet area of responsibility.
