GALVESTON, Texas - The command staff of Maritime Safety and Security Team Galveston meets Aug. 21, 2007, to discuss their first deployment as a Deployable Specialized Force under the Deployable Operations Group. The DOG is preparing five MSSTs and other DSF units to deploy in response to Hurricane Dean.
MSST Galveston was in a maintenance period when the word came to deploy to Brownsville, Texas, hours after their meeting. Their convoy of boats and personnel traveled 8-10 hours to get to Brownsville that night.
