WASHINGTON, D.C. (Aug. 7, 2004)--Cochito One, the small boat embarked onboard U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Cochito (WPB 87329), homeported in Little Creek, VA, gets underway for a patrol, after being launched from the Cutter, on the Potomac River, on August 7,2004. Cochito's small boat is launched from a ramp at the Cutter's stern, allowing rapid, safe deployments and recovery. Stern ramp launching is an improvement of launching a small boat over the side with a davit. Coast Guard and Coast Guard Auxiliarysmall boats from Washington, DC, Northern Virginia and Maryland teamed with Cochito and its small boat, during the Marine Safety and Security patrol. Cutter Cochito is a 92 ton, 87-foot Coastal Patrol Boat, commissioned on 24 MAR 2001, and homeported inLittle Creek, VA. It's one of 54 in the Coast Guard's Marine Protector Class of vessels.U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Cochito (WPB 87329), homeported in Little Creek, VA, patrols the Potomac River on 7 AUG 04, during the heighten state of alert (Code Orange) in Washington, D.C.
