NEW ORLEANS - Coast Guard Capt. Julia Hein talks with National Park Service officials concerning the turtle nesting areas at Pensacola, Fla., June 16, 2011. There has been a temporary pause in operations there during turtle nesting season to ensure that clean-up crews do not accidentally hit or dig up a nest and destroy the eggs. Capt. Hein has served as the Federal On-Scene Coordinator (FOSC) since May 6, 2011. The response organization continues clean-up operations in affected areas with 1,277 responders and 116 vessels to ensure the shoreline of Gulf Coast is properly cleaned and restored, and is working closely with the Natural Resource Trustees as they oversee recovery and restoration efforts.
