U.S. Coast Guard Capt. Anne Flammang recieves the Legion of Merit award from Rear Adm. J. Scott Burhoe during her retirement ceremony May 20, 2011, in the Officer's Club at the Coast Guard Academy. Flammang was the first female member of the permanent commissioed teaching staff and has taught in the English section, leading classes on writing, literature and the arts.
