CHEBOYGAN, Mich. - Coast Guard responders are investigating an oiled portion of the Cheboygan State Park, and a sheen in Duncan Bay Oct. 5, 2010.
A concerned citizen contacted Coast Guard Station St. Ignace, Mich., reporting a sheen in Duncan Bay and the heavy substance on the beach, which measured about 25 yards by 300 yards.
Pollution investigators from Coast Guard Sector Sault Ste. Marie arrived on scene and an aircrew from Coast Guard Air Station Traverse City, Mich., conducted an overflight assessment of the bay, estimating the sheen at 15 feet by 300 yards.
The cause of the product release is still under investigation.
