Rear Adm. Stephen E. Mehling, Commander of the Coast Guard's 14th District, was the presiding official for the ceremony. The ceremony included remarks from Hawaii's Gov. Linda Lingle, representatives from Sen. Daniel Akaka's and Sen. Daniel Inouye's office, and Norman H. Mineta, former Secretary of Transportation.
