KODIAK, Alaska - Cmdr. Jeffrey Yarosh, executive officer Coast Guard Cutter Alert, observes his crew as they moor to the cargo pier at Base Support Unit Kodiak to take on fuel June 18, 2010, following a transit from their homeport of Astoria, Ore. The crew of the cutter will attend the Kodiak-based North Pacific Regional Fisheries Training Center to refresh their boarding teams on federal and Alaska state fisheries regulations before undertaking a Bering Sea patrol which are rarely conducted by the Coast Guard's medium endurance cutter fleet, but the Alert's crew is filling a critical need as the high endurance cutters are deployed or in maintenance periods.
