PORT FOURCHON, La. - Melvin Silvestre, a contractor for Oilmop, helps clean up the Fort Fourchon coast May 17, 2010 by sifting through sand to find oil debris. Local residents were also on scene to volunteer and assist contractors, BP PLC, the U.S. Coast Guard, U.S. Army, and other federal agencies to aid in preventing the spread of oil following the April 20 explosion on the mobile offshore drilling unit Deepwater Horizon.
