NEW YORK-Coast Guard Lt. j.g. Chris Mercurio from Coast Guard Sector New York hands a life ring to Giacomo, age five, on board a 25-foot rescue boat on display on the USS Intrepid during Coast Guard Day Aug. 1, 2009.

During Coast Guard Day visitors to the USS Intrepid Sea, Air and Space Museum were able to see a search and rescue demonstration done by a Jayhawk helicopter crew from Air Station Cape Cod and a 45-foot rescue boat crew from Coast Guard Station New York in the Hudson River.
