Repairing a Machine Gun on Patrol in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba
NAVAL STATION GUANTANAMO BAY, CUBA (May 21, 2009)-Coast Guard Petty Officer 3rd Class Isaac Blakely repairs a M2 .50-caliber machine gun while on patrol today in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. Blakely is a member of Coast Guard Port Security Unit (PSU) 305, which has provided anti-terrorism and fleet protection here since November. Their mission includes patrolling the waterways around the U.S. Naval Station and providing internal security during the commissions at the Expeditionary Legal Complex. Each of PSU 305's 25-foot Defender-class response boats is armed with one .50-caliber machine gun and two 7.62-caliber machine guns and is capable of a maximum speed of 45 knots.
