CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas - In this photo by the U.S. Coast Guard, members from the Navy's Marine Mammal Program prepare a dolphin for deployment during the Corpus Christi Inner Harbor Safe Harbor Experiment, Friday, May 15, 2009.

The Navy's Marine Mammal Program was utilized during the experiment for object detection, location and marking recovery during the experiment.

The experiment began on Monday, May 11, 2009, and concluded Friday, May 15, 2009, with a reception and media day.

The purpose of the experiment was to test the readiness of the port through the placement of inert mine-like shapes on the bed of the port. Once the shapes were placed, the Navy utilized unmanned underwater vehicles to locate the placed shapes.
