Muffin, Station Channel Islands mascot, belonging to Auxiliarist Mike Brodey, Division 7 Commander, is the star model in a life jacket fashion show at the Safe Boating Expo held at CG Station Channel Islands, Oxnard, CA. The Expo featured boating safety agency displays, on the water demonstrations, and rides aboard Coat Guard boats. To the delight of the public aboard one of the CG boats, an actual rescue was made during their ride, when they happened upon a vessel with smoke pouring from it's engine space. The CG boat pulled along side and removed 6 frightened people and one dog to safety. Another CG boat then towed the smoking boat to safety.
