NARRAGANSETT, R.I. - A program for the Coast Guard Joshua James Ancient Keeper change of watch ceremony, held June 20, 2008, at Station Point Judith in Narragansett, R.I., lies in the grass next to the Coast Guard Gold Ancient Mariner, Vice Adm. Robert Papp. The Ancient Keeper is the Coast Guardsman who earned the sole Joshua James Keeper Award for outstanding performance and longevity of service in Coast Guard boat forces operations. The gold ancient mariner is the officer who personifies the dedication and professionalism associated with long service at sea and who has held the distinction of cutterman longer than any other officer or enlisted member.
