CHATHAM, Mass.- Coast Guard Auxiliary member Dick Hilmer demonstrates the correct method for using a kayak paddle at the Cape Cod Paddle Smart Safety Clinic held June 28, 2008 at Jackknife Beach in Chatham. U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary and the American Canoe Association instructors demonstrated safe kayaking skills and techniques to educate paddlers to be responsible when kayaking or canoeing. The Cape Cod Paddle Smart Safety Clinic was sponsored by U.S Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 11-01 in cooperation with Coast Guard Station Chatham; the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection Boating Division; the American Canoe Association, and Cape Cod Osprey Sea Kayak Adventures.
