ALAMEDA, Calif.(Feb. 6, 2008) -- Coast Guard Petty Officer 1st Class Felton Coley, an electronics technician assigned to the Pacific Area Intel Division here, speaks from the podium during Coast Guard Island's Black History Month Celebration here today. Coley is a self-proclaimed historian who is currently serving as an Associate Minister for First New Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church in Oakland, Calif., and is pending retirement from the Coast Guard in 2008.
This year's theme, "Dr. Carter G. Woodson and the origins of multiculturalism," focused on the accomplishments and interests of Dr. Woodson as well as the importance of educating society on black history. (U.S. Coast Guard photo by Petty Officer 3rd Class Melissa Hauck.)
