McGowan, 7, suffers from a chronic intestinal pseudo obstruction and was traveling to Pittsburg, Penn., the following Wednesday for an organ transplant evaluation. The first grader expressed a desire to ride in a Coast Guard helicopter after seeing several fly over his home in Forestdale, Mass., so his parents worked with air station personnel to fulfill his wish.(Coast Guard photo/Lauren Downs)
