Honolulu, HI (Aug. 28) - Coast Guard Rear Adm. J.J. McClelland Jr. pins the Coast Guard Medal on Angela Cruz, a former Coast Guardsman, during a ceremony at the Coast Guard Integrated Support Command here to award her for heroism during the 1999 Sacred Falls State Park landslide. Cruz demonstrated a total disregard for her own personal safety by re-entering the landslide area to offer assistance. Eight people were killed and many others injured in the landslide.
