NEW LONDON, Conn. (May13, 2003) ---Coast Guard Band Director Capt. Lewis Buckley and Tenor Daniel Rodriguez after their recording session. Rodriguez, the singing cop, recorded the song "On This Day," with the Coast Guard Band in New London, Conn. Award-winning composer Charles Strouse composed and wrote the song which was commissioned by the White House Liasion for the Commission on the National Moment of Remembrance. It is hoped by the Commission that the song and music be established as America's National Day Anthem to be release for the first time this Memorial Day 2003. Rodriguez, a New York City cop, mostly sang for most sporting events, however, it was Sept. 11 where he made his mark, singing countless memorials for the victims.
