Mobile, AL (May 1)--Coast Guard members of the Pacific Area Tactical Law Enforcement Team conducts training in the vertical insertion technique. The vertical insertion (fast-roping) technique is a proven and effective method for boarding non-compliant vessels or vessels in adverse weather. Department of Defense and international armed forces use vertical insertion in their normal operations (e.g. in the Arabian Gulf enforcing United Nations sanctions against the government of Iraq.
