Petty Officer 1st Class Rommel Ramos, aviation boatswain's mate, assigned to the forward deployed amphibious assault ship USS Essex, is reenlisted by Essex commanding officer Capt. Brent Canady while in the air circling above Essex in an SH-60s Seahawk helicopter assigned to Sea Combat Helicopter Squadron Search and Rescue Detachment. Essex is the lead ship of the only forward deployed U.S. expeditionary strike group and serves as the flagship for Combined Task Force 76, the Navy's only forward deployed amphibious force commander.
