Machinery Repairman 1st Class Nathan Kopp, right, and Machinery Repairman Fireman Bradley Widby, both assigned to the submarine tender USS Frank Cable (AS 40), cut a commutater using a lathe in the machine shop. A commutater is used to produce an electrical current for shipboard power aboard submarines. Frank Cable, forward deployed to the island of Guam, conducts maintenance and support of submarines and surface vessels deployed in the U.S. 7th Fleet area of responsibility.
